The Difference Between Snooker and Nine-Ball Tables

In addition to snooker, there is another, less common form of billiards: nine-ball. Nine-ball tables differ significantly from snooker tables. Nine-ball tables have larger pockets with right-angled openings, whereas 16-ball and Snooker tables have rounded corners that allow balls to slide into the pockets. In Nine-ball, if a ball hits the sharp corner, it tends to bounce out, making the shots more challenging. However, both Nine-ball and Snooker require players to pocket the colored balls in sequence; the difference lies in their distinct rules. A nine-ball table features nine colored balls; the rule is to pocket them in order from 1 to 9, with the player winning once the 9-ball is pocketed. Snooker rules are somewhat more complex: there are 15 red balls and 6 colored balls. Players must pocket one red ball before they can pocket a colored ball. Red balls are worth 1 point each, while colored balls are worth 2 to 7 points, and the winner is determined by the player’s total score.

In short, nine-ball is relatively simpler than snooker.
