The materials used in snooker tables determine their quality

For a time, snooker was merely a form of popular entertainment and struggled to gain acceptance in high society. Thanks to the persistent efforts of snooker enthusiasts, the first English Amateur Snooker Championship was held in 1916. However, it wasn’t until the 1920s, with the emergence of snooker superstar Joe Davis, that the game truly began to gain popularity in Britain. So, how should one choose a snooker table? The quality of a snooker table depends on the materials used in its construction. Let’s take a look together.

1. All balls must weigh the same, with a tolerance of ±3g per set;

2. Replacing a single ball or an entire set requires the consent of both players or a decision by the referee;

3. Cue: Cues used in competition must be no shorter than 914mm (3ft), and their appearance and structure must not differ significantly from traditional and widely accepted designs;

4. Aids: When a player is in a position that hinders their stroke, they may use various aids such as rest stands, long cues, extension rods, and connecting tubes. These aids may be part of the table’s standard equipment, brought by the player, or provided by the referee. All aids must be manufactured according to the design specifications provided by the WPBSA.
