For a pool table, flatness is crucial. Many pool tables today exhibit such issues because they fail to meet manufacturing standards. Adjusting the table’s flatness can effectively prevent problems like ball deflection during play.
First, a ball’s trajectory deviating from its intended path is not necessarily caused solely by an uneven table surface. For example, minor deviations—such as when a ball hits the cushion and changes direction as it approaches the pocket—are primarily due to prolonged use, which causes inconsistencies in the thickness of the table’s felt.
Generally, billiard tables undergo a leveling process during initial installation, so even if unevenness occurs during use, it is usually minor. In such cases, simply measure the table surface with a level and make minor adjustments at the table legs; no major leveling is required. If the unevenness is severe, we recommend against attempting to level the table yourself. Be sure to hire a professional to perform the leveling. The cost is not very high—typically around 100 yuan—and this usually includes replacing the felt, though this price covers only the labor.
