What should you do if these problems occur when using the pool table again?
Mar 18,2026
Due to human factors or external environmental conditions, certain issues may arise when customers use a pool table, preventing it from functioning properly. So, how should these issues be promptly resolved when they occur? Below, staff from Nuoke Sports will share their expertise:
First and foremost, pay attention during installation: do not allow the wooden rail to press against the rubber strip at the pocket opening, as this may cause the seal to collapse. After addressing this issue, try gently lifting the rubber seal upward. If the problem persists and it is confirmed that the seal has come loose, it must be reapplied from scratch.
I. What to do if the pocket opening size is incorrect during installation, or if the customer requests a slightly larger opening:
First, adjust the steel rails or side rails to achieve the standard pocket dimensions. For competition-grade billiard tables, the ball diameter is 52.5 mm, with a tolerance of ±0.05 mm. Additionally, the weight deviation between any two balls in a set must not exceed 3 g. Replacing a single ball or an entire set requires the consent of both players or confirmation by the referee. In special circumstances where the customer requests a wider pocket opening, you can place a piece of cloth between the No. 1 side rails and the slate on both sides to achieve the desired widening effect.
The slate ball roll test is the simplest, most practical, and most intuitive method for inspecting the quality (flatness) of high-end billiard tables.
II. What to Do If Balls Bounce After Installing a Pool Table
Bouncing balls in the cushion area generally indicates a problem with the cushion height; you should first measure the cushion height. For a pool table without a felt cover, gently push the cue ball from its starting point so that it rolls slowly (at less than 0.2 m/s) along a straight line on the slate. If the ball does not deviate from the line, this confirms that the table’s flatness meets standards. If the ball bounces off the non-cushion area, it is likely caused by unevenness in the slate surface. Inspect the joints of the slate panels first.
III. What to Do If Balls Get Stuck After Installing a Pool Table
There are several reasons why balls get stuck:
1. Is the felt too loose? Billiard tables are categorized into Snooker tables, American pocket tables, 9-ball tables, and Carom tables. Billiards originated in the United Kingdom and is a widely popular, elegant indoor sport internationally. It is an indoor recreational sport where players use cues to strike balls on a table, with the outcome determined by scoring.
2. Are the brass fittings loose? Adjustments should be made according to the specific situation.
